What we do?

The Evolveris Project seeks to catalyze and co-host a learning community for people, communities, field researchers, institutions / enterprises interested in exploring new ways of seeing, knowing and thinking holistically. We regard this as being critical to catalyze sustainable futures.

One way to achieve this is by facilitating a global storytelling network. This will link communities and help exchange experiences and knowledge of how places are being re-storied to enable sustainable futures. This storytelling network will be web based and will use multi-media technologies to facilitate the conversations, exchange ideas and usefulresources for making sustainable places.

We are especially interested in collaborating with community development projects that seek to conserve and build the resilience of threatened ecosystems such as forest, reef and other fragile ecosystems and their communities. We hope to bring together field research expertise with others willing to support the communities undertaking this work of regeneration, monitoring and co-operative efforts to steward more balanced and sustainable pathways.

Core Principles and Values

This Evolveris project looks to support the emergence of new and old cultural stories based on building community wellbeing, stewardship and interconnecting with the natural and sacred world, which we inhabit.

We seek to promote a new relational ethics based around:
  • Learning: through social action and reflection; seeking to share and synergise both expert and local place knowledge with indigenous wisdom to become better stewards and custodians of our places and ‘country’.
  • Respect: for people, the earth and its natural systems; finding culturally appropriate ways for sustainable futures.
  • Engagement and Partnering: collaborating and establishing partnerships that meet all our stakeholders and partners key needs.
  • Inter-Connecting: listening to each other, to the presence of places, our forests and reefs; taking the time again to wonder and be enthralled
  • Giving-Back: making sure we just don’t take from others and deplete nature’s communities; instead nurturing life, ensuring environmental justice and giving places, habitats, forests and reefs time to recover and regenerate.

The Evolveris project seeks to facilitate an on-going, open conversation about sustainable place making….to go beyond the old ‘develop and degrade’ narratives, the false notion that ‘progress’ is only one way ahead...

...and to reconsider notions of wholeness, the well-being of all the communities that together inhabit our places and regions; to sustain our world and engage again with the mystery of the sacred presence in places and ‘country’.
